Ben has already pointed out that you must have an SMTP process of some
sort running on the listserv box.

I know of one site that replaced nsms with sendmail on their listserv
server, because they had ongoing problems making nsms and listserv work
together. It was my understanding that most of the problems revolved
around the creation of list-related aliases in nsms. I have no other
details.
