Last summer, we migrated approximately 56,000 lists from a single Solaris box
running LISTSERV 1.8e to two Linux boxes running LISTSERV 15.5. We built the
new servers using LISTSERV 15.5, then moved all list-related files and other
'local' files to the new servers. We took this approach because we have a
number of locally-written scripts that we use for list creation and
maintenance, and we needed to test them with the new version on the new OS
before we made the cutover. We have done all of our previous upgrades in
the same manner. It would be much simpler if L-Soft would put "their stuff"
and "our stuff" in seperate directories.

Different strokes for different folks; YMMV; and all those other caveats.
