Not to me. LISTSERV has never in the past 'read' the template and filled in
the settings. Admittedly I have been using LISTSERV for a long time so I have
the prior experience that you do not. I agree that as a newcomer to LISTSERV
you could reasonably expect this to work the way you think it should.

Not necessarily. The templates would then have to allow for hundreds of
possible cases, and different naming conventions for the 10+ operating systems
LISTSERV runs on. Since only Site Admins have the privs to create lists, and
we presume that Site Admins know the special issues unique to their own
server, it is much less complicated to simply allow user input. The reminder
path (in green, under the blank space) can be edited in the SKIN template and
set properly for your site. Or you can

Prior to 15.0, the 3-4 wizard page/steps (listname/title, Owner, Archives)
were all contained on one large page. In 15.0 they were separated into
separate steps. I haven't yet done it, but I might now do just as you say and
change the wizard steps to eliminate this page when pulling from your custom
template.

However the stock templates do not contain any Notebook paths and there is
really no way to differentiate between a template where the path must be
entered manually and a template where the path is preset.

It seems simpler overall just to 'hit 'next' and skip this page.
