I am searching for a host site for starting a mailing list, which is
currently titled the Scorpions Mailing List. The Scorpions are a
German band that was really popular during the early 80s and
90s.

I started making correspondance with some Scorpions fans over the
internet via e-mail. Over a peiod of about a month I had made a list
of all the ones that I wrote to in order to distribute things to all of them
at once. I needed this option because I run a Scorpions home page. Now,
there are about 30 people on my list of potential subscribers to the list. I
mailed a message to all of the people on my list and got a good response
about starting a real mailing list.

Now that the Scorpions Mailing List has proven the demand for such a
mailing list, I want to re-establish it on some firmer foundations that
will make it easier to maintain in the long term, and provide a better
service for the subscribers. Having explored a number of options I am now
convinced that establishing it as a LISTSERV mailing list is the best way
to proceed, if I can find a site and LISTSERV Maintainer to take it on.

If the list does become a LISTSERV mailing list then I would propose the
following:
     * that the name of the list be changed to something like different than
just the Scorpions Mailing List. I asked the people on my list to come up
with some good names. So far the possibilities are: First Sting and Media
Overkill.
     * that the messages be available in both digest format and all the
messages posted.
     * that the target audience be fans of the German band Scorpions.

I expect the number of subscribers to continue to increase, but am not
sure to what extent. The current posts to the list are almost exclusively
discussion of the band, their songs, and anything related.

There is no official connection between the current list and the band
Scorpions. I do not generate any income or profit of any kind from
running the list. However it does costs me a number of hours each
week and some of my limited Internet access time!

I have conducted various searches for "Scorpions" including in
the LISTSERV List of Lists, news.lists, and the sri.com Interest Groups
List of Lists, and believe that this list does not duplicate or encroach
on any existing mailing list.

I would appreciate any offers of assistance.
