Is REXX Date() output in the local language???

From an observation  of a couple console logs  and local experimentation,
it appears  that the  output of  the REXX Date()  function is  written in
uppercase (as in "22 JUL 90") when SET LANGUAGE UCENG is in effect. Could
anybody with  a nonzero set  of NLS  repositories confirm whether  or not
this is a  general rule, ie if I  SET LANGUAGE GERM do I get  the date in
german?????
