The new release of RSCS V2 contains a feature called the list processor.
We've had it inside IBM for many years (at least six -- I don't know
why it took so long to get out). It needn't be installed at every node.
Here's how it works. If you send a file to the id *LIST (I think that it
is configureable) at a node (via RSCS), the begining of the file should
look like:
   node1 user1
   node2 user2
     .
     .
     .
   noden usern
   (blank line)
   (rest of spool file)
The list processor then redistributes the file to the nearest nodes
and/or list processors (for further redistribution). This works
fine with files, and also mail, as long as one doesn't insist on there
being individual To: lines. It seems to work very efficiently, and has
been a lifesaver for the IBM internal network.
