How did you go about editing it?  If you simply retrieved it through the
local filesystem then saved it back that won't work.  LISTSERV still thinks
the file is there in its original condition.  The only way you'll be able to
edit an active archive is to GET and PUT the file through LISTSERV itself.
That way you're telling LISTSERV, "I'm extracting this file and probably
making some changes to it.  When I put it back re-index the contents."
