I asked this a couple of years ago, but it should would be nice if the
format of the probe email address could be changed by the site admin.
I would love to see an option to format the address something like:

	<owner-listname+user**example*[log in to unmask]> or

	<owner-listname-probe+user**example*[log in to unmask]>

This would allow sites that support sub-addresses[1] to not have to
create a email routing entry in their email routing layer (gateway) when
they want the gateway to be authoritative for ALL email addresses in their
domain(s)/netspace. The owner-listname-probe at domain address is
defined just once in the mail gateway, but the gateway still routes the
probe emails such that LISTSERV can do all of it current delivery status
checks.

Note 1: sub-addresses have been around for many many years (at least
since late 80s) and are supported by several/many/most(?) MTAs. The
definition of a sub-address is probably best explained in the
introduction to RFC 5233 - Sieve Email Filtering: Subaddress Extension
<http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc5233.txt>. The plus (+) character is the
address typically used, but I think that Postfix uses an underscore (_)
by default but can be changed. (Don't get me started on web form email
address validation functions that don't consider a plus character to be
part of a valid email address. :)
