ok, the thing had been only partially fixed:
 
To: name <user @ node>     was handled ok
To: user @ node name       was NOT handled correctly
 
  The "Warning -- RSCS tags indicate an  origin of SMTP@WISCVM" was due to the
fact that  the From: address  had been invalidly  parsed and LISTSERV  did not
think of the mail sender as an ARPA person. Nothing to worry about.
