I need to do NAD requests for users in our campus domain:
[log in to unmask]
UAKRON.EDU is properly registered with the Internet and DOMAIN NAMES.
And I am the NAD for AKRONVM (alias VM1.CC.UAKRON.EDU and AKRONVM.UAKRON.EDU).
However, if I try to do anything like: FOR [log in to unmask] Query *
I get two different replies:
1. If I use: TELL LISTSERV FOR [log in to unmask] Query *
the user is notified as the mail included below shows.
But, no messages come to my VM console.

You are not signed up to any list on this server.

2. If I send a Listserv Job to do the FOR campus_address Query *
The following mail response comes to my VM reader:
========================================================================

BSMTP id 0067; Mon, 17 Apr 89 14:12:03 EDT

You are not a registered NAD (Node Administrator)
for node VAX1.CC.UAKRON.EDU. The NAD for node
VAX1.CC.UAKRON.EDU is [log in to unmask]
------ cut here ------
Neither one is exactly what I expected to return to me.
I'm not sure what to make of this. A single NAD for all of the UAKRON.EDU
domain was what I expected. Now it seems that a NAD of NADs is what I need(?),
plus sub-NADs for MATH.UAKRON.EDU, CC.UAKRON.EDU, etc., plus sub-NADs
for each subdomain beneath that. It does seem reasonable in one sense and
quite unreasonable in another.
Well back on earth ;-), since LISTSERV checks DOMAIN NAMES for valid domain
addresses already, what about the NAD for a whole domain as per DOMAIN NAMES:
:nick..UAKRON.EDU :gatemast.SPONSELL@AKRONVM
where gatemast value gives NAD for that domain?
Breaking new ground is not what I'm looking for...
