I dont' know what release of VM you're running, but 4M shouldn't be out
of line, especially if you're running CMS 5, 5.5, or 6 (they're bigger).
It's what I run with here. What is being sorted is the list of
SUBSCRIBERS to that list. Unless you have one hell of a popular list,
it shouldn't be TOO big!

I haven't seen/had a problem like the one you describe, but based on
what you said, I do have an idea or two... First, in the WAKEPARM FILE
on LISTSERV's 191 disk, make sure you have an entry to cause LSVCLGBV
to be run, to cleanse the GLOBALV table. Second, I highly recommend
causeing LISTSERV to re-ipl once a day, to clean up storage, etc., and
just to start everything out fresh again for the day. Since re-ipling
CMS also cleanses the GLOBALV, I do the IPL at 00:00:02, and the
LSVCLGBV at 12:00:00. Here's what my WAKEPARM FILE looks like:

* This WAKEPARM file is the new default for LISTSERV version 1.6d and
* above.

Of course, I have things in mine that you won't need, since I run a FULL
UDD and LISTS server, and also use LISTSERV's WAKEPARM to send commands
to other things, like NETNEWS.

Hope this helps. Any questions, give me a shout or a call.
