Everyone should take note of where their replies are going. :-)
It's not quite as hopeless with Microsoft Mail as you say. It is
possible for Microsoft Mail users to get the Internet Mail headers.
The Microsoft SMTP gateway must be configured to pass them through.
Users of the Windows MS Mail client must also put StripGatewayHeaders=0
into their MSMAIL.INI file.
Now the MS Mail SMTP gateway can be configured to use the From address
instead of the MAIL FROM address as the MS Mail From. The major
downside to this is that MS Mail bounces then go to the wrong place.
It also doesn't help get replies to the list.
LISTSERV lists can also be configured as Safe=No. This causes the MAIL
FROM address in posts to be the name of the list, instead of
Owner-listname. Then you are depending entirely on LISTSERV's filters
to catch bounce messages and redirect them to the list owner. However,
they are really very good. We run over 300 lists on our LISTSERV that
way, because we have 120 MS Mail post offices with over 8000 users.
