I don't know if this is what you had in mind but here it goes:
The LDBASE.COM procedure is only helps if you want to submit a batch job. It is
of no use if you want to be able to issue interactive commands from VMS. In
order to facilitate the latter form of ldbase  searches, I've made 2 small
programs, one running in a subprocess to intercept incomming messages, the
other to send ldbase commands. It is still wanting a bit of documentation and
it has some side effects I don't quite understand myself, but if anyone is
interested I'm willing to make them available.
