The  problem with  "File  origin  forced to  RSCS@UWAVM"  has  been found  and
squashed. It appears that during a short  hiatus in the link between UWAVM and
OREGON1,  UW had  transferred  (using  CP TRANSFER)  many  files destined  for
OREGON1 to  a dummy  id called  NETHOLD until the  link revived.  They've been
transferring  them  back   to  RSCS  gradually,  but   the  TRANSFER  commands
obliterated  the  real file  origins  and  caused  all these  wonderful  error
message.
 
Sometimes I wonder about these network things.....8-).
