Dear all,

        I am interested in starting a new listserv to deal with the cognitive
science of song. In particular, I am interested in linking individuals who
are involved with, or who are interested in, research in cognitive science,
linguistics (in particular prosody), with music cognition and perception.

Although there has been a good deal of research over the past decade dealing
with music cognition & perception, and comparing music processing with
language processing, little of the reseach available deals with the most
obvious area of overlap: that is, the processing of song, in both production
and perception. This is the area that I wish to focus discussions on. From
months of searching, I have not yet found any listserv or website available
that addresses these areas in particular.

I would be very interested in finding a server willing to host such a list.
I anticipate the initial subscriber base to be in the range of 20-50
individuals. I obtained this address from

by Brian Edmonds. As I don't follow the discussions of this list, I request
