Unfortunately, it has a bad side effect in that it tells IBM that PROFS
is an acceptable networked E-mail system.  The PROPER thing to do is
to tell the PROFS users that they are out of luck, and that they should
take the issue up with IBM.
 
Proprietary inter-machine exchange formats (undocumented no less) are
a dinosaur.  Unfortunately, I don't know what it will take IBM to realize
this fact.  For all of their admittedly excellent work with the TCP/IP
software for VM, as long as IBM insists that PROFS isn't brain-dead,
I'm not very convinced that they are SERIOUS about interoperability.
