     That is correct... a number of Canadian universities are singing
on with .edu  as well as their normal addresses but nobody i know of
uses .gov except the US.

     The three-letter domains ought to useful for everyone, and the
only way to make that happen is to have country codes added AFTER the
.com.net.org. etc.,

    I think there is room for lobbying to set an international
standard on this.   I am told that some state organizations in
california are adding .ca in their addresses.  This will drive us
Canadians crazy.  Domain names need to be re-thought to prepare for
the future, when there will be many more of them, and to reflect
geography as well as function.   Ford cars are Ford cars, but there is
a difference between one with a Canadian and one with a Somali licence
plate.   They should not all be .ford
