Though I don't know the numbers, and sometimes yes, I get a nastygram "shoot the messenger" in return, I prefer the moral high ground / CYA. I've gone beyond what an average list-owner may have time / pain for, and regardless of outcome, feel satisfied that I have tried something, rather than nothing at all.
I then feel justified in any deletion that I might do.
