For  digests the  solution is  MIME digests  (new in  1.8c). Conventional
digests have no support for MIME  characters. If you have a recent enough
version of LISTSERV,  the MIME headers are preserved in  the archives. Of
course  the archive  is  just a  file  with  a series  of  messages in  a
particular format and converting it into  the mailbox format used by your
particular mail program probably requires some programming.
