This is an enhancement request, or least a call for discussion of
an enhancement request concerning PROBE.
One of my list readers recently was probed and LISTSERV reported a
"probe failure". It turns out he was away from his office mailbox and
had a "vacation program" auto-responding. Because LISTSERV saw a
response from the PROBE, it was treated as a delivery problem. My
subscriber suggests ...
"NOTE: The message ... which generated the something-is-wrong
message from listserv is ... a standard unix vacation mail program,
which DOES attempt to detect mailing lists -- by checking for
precedence bulk or junk. If you have any way to change how the
"probe" mail is sent, to use precedence junk or bulk, that would
probably be a very good thing to do."
Any thoughts on how to proceed?
cheers,
