Maybe this is off-topic, but sometimes I want to control my lists and
teach my supposedly computer illiterate posters the "right" way, when
maybe I'd be just as well off chilling out and just using my time to
advance the purpose of the lists.  When people had 300 baud modems and
really dumb mail reading software, every character seemed to count.  Now
with faster links, what's the gain in worrying about including some junk
at the end of a post?
