Ahhh, a whois. This is basically how to find out information about who
controls hosts and servers. In the old days we used to do this through a
unix shell (or VMS terminal session when the VAX was running
Multinet). Now, there are a variety of net tools. I am using a small
program called CyberKit.
There are many machines that provide information about who is in charge of
what domain. The information returned looks like information below. Of
course, this assumes people are honest with their registration. You can
also get whois information from http://www.samspade.org.
