(Hoping some folks from LSOFT read this list!)
Just went through my first setup of LDAP and dynamic queries with
ListServ 16.0. Very powerful, but have a couple suggestions that might
have made it a tad easier from an administrator standpoint...
- Connection testing. It would be great to have a little button
next to where the connection is set up which you can use to
ensure the connection works and that the parameters you entered
are sane.
- Dynamic query testing. When I defined a dynamic query, it was
happily saved and thus I thought the query was fine. It wasn't
until I went to a list and tried to insert the query into a
header that I got a rather generic "failure" error. I had to
look in the listserv.log file for more verbose logs telling me I
was missing a default keyword or something along those lines.
Again, would be great to have some sort of test button for
dynamic queries or at least a bit more verbose output (which
could perhaps be turned on from the debug panel).
- Query enumeration. I can obviously pass my query to ldapsearch
or some other tool to see my results. But it'd be nice to have a
way from within the interface to examine the output of one of my
queries. Who are the subscribers in one of my sublists? Who are
the editors I've defined in a dynamic query?
Overall, very powerful tool. Thanks.
