What is error 36, when getting files in uuencode format?

Anytime I try to get any file from our LISTSERV I get the following message:
 
"Error 36 trying to send file "<fn> <ft> <fm>" in UUE format.
 
I can successfully get log files (notebooks) in this format, what gives?
Does anyone know what error 36 is?  I know I should "look in the log"
but I don't have easy access to it, and our system's programmer in charge
of LISTSERV (and mail) is out.
