Check the Date: field on the mail, and the dates/times in the Received:
headers.  It's not at all unusual for some intermediary system to sit on
a message for several days bcause something is down.

Also, take a *careful* look at the mail the owner is getting, and make
sure it's not actually a bounce from one of the subscribers, being sent
to the list owner....
