From what I've heard, most of the people who have enabled this feature on
their (non-LISTSERV) mailing  list manager ended up having  to disable it
within 48h because the users couldn't  stand having the messages split in
the  manner you  describe :-)  MIME  digests will  be added  in a  future
version,  but as  a separate  option. Users  will have  a choice  between
current and MIME digests.
