People who had to 'SERVE [log in to unmask] OFF' are invited to also
'QUIET SERVE [log in to unmask] OFF' (mind the case!). I don't know all
the details of this name change (Olivier would, but he's on holidays until
monday), basically, this MINT thing is a kind of "general CERN gateway" that
performs mail conversion from/to a large number of protocols, allowing CERN
users to talk to each other regardless of racial and religious considerations.
It used to be an 11/750 (or 780, I don't remember), and was so overloaded that
it sometimes didn't manage to finish the "check everything is ok" process
started every day at midnight in 24h, with the result that the system would
crash after a couple weeks with "maximum number of processes exceeded" :-)
DXMINT is a new incarnation of MINT running on a MicroVAX, which doesn't
suffer from these problems; I don't know if the 'MINT.CERN.CH' name still
exists, nor do I know whether 'DXMINT' is a permanent name, but I would advise
serving both of them off.
