Hello there,
I have one puzzling-to-me question.
With version 1.8a Owners have the ability to customize the listname MAILTPL
files and "put" it back to LISTSERV, without the administrator's intevention.
the American U, which has a peer of my list and the MAILTPL file is read by
LISTSERV, with no problem. PSU, has another peer of my list and eventhough
the file exists (and I do have write access to that disk), the MAILTPL will
not be read by LISTSERV. The steps at AU where the following. I'm including
Jim's mail:
---------Top of File-------
In order to have listserv use the MAILTPL file I merely PUTC it on
Listserv's 191 disk. In order to allow you to GET and PUT it I
created a MAILTPL FILEID and MAILTPL FILELIST. The MAILTPL file just
had:
1
HELLAS MAILTPL HELLAS MAILTPL A1
The MAILTPL FILELIST had:
*+HEL= Owner(HELLAS)
HELLAS MAILTPL ALL HEL . . . . . HELLAS MAILTPL File
I also added MAILTPL FILELIST to both LISTSERV FILEID and LISTSERV
FILELIST.
That's all there was to it. I don't know if the MAILTPL FILEID and
FILELIST are necessary, but it did allow you to both get and put the
MAILTPL file without my intervention. Before I did this you told me
that you could not get or put the HELLAS MAILTPL file.

----Bottom of File----
Now PSU's admin (Bill Verity) told me that he has done this. I'm able to
get/put the mailtpl file but it will not be read by LISTSERV, and there
is no customized messages. I must mention that the same file is used in
both LISTSERVs, so the chance of a wrong mailtpl file I believe is eliminated.
Are there any suggestions/solutions ?
