I'd like to stress that the LISTEARN 1.5o that we are distributing
is compatible with the LISTSERV code, as far as 'talking to each other'
goes. In fact, LISTEARN 1.5o is very similar to LISTSERV 1.5o with
a few minor exceptions. These are:
* Included 'failed mail' as a possible mailer rejection subject to
prevent mailing loops.
* The forwarded REVIEW command now fails if the list is locked. This
was placed after having a loop with a badly-peered list. So, if the
list is locked, the looping should stop.
* Provision for forcing LISTEARN to answer some certain node's users
in MAIL mode. Placed for nodes whose nodeID "look like" EARN/BITNET
addresses. (Happens with local TCP/IP nodes, I was told)
* Ability to order files from LISTSERV using the 'fn.ft' format, instead
of 'fn ft' - useful for people on VAX, Unix, etc..
For the optional packages:
* Forwarding: help menu if the command syntax is faulty.
