This user has sent to many invalid "commands" to LISTSERV itself.
Thus, LISTSERV as a matter of self-defence protected itself by
not listening to anything the user had to say either to LISTSERV
or the lists that LISTSERV operates on that host. The user was
probably trying to e-mail the list but got confused and e-mailed
the LISTSERV itself.

What you should do:

1) issue the LISTSERV command

   SERVE userid@node

2) inform the user of the proper use of the LISTSERV address
   vs. the list address

3) encourage the user to contact you directly with any problems
that they might be having with the use of the list or LISTSERV
e.g., no TEST messages sent to list subscribers (it's counter
productive, unless you happened to be on WORDS-L which seem
to thrive on that kind of thing ;-) <hi! Nat>)
