If you want to read the flamewar between advocates of just a newsgroup, a
gated newsgroup, and just a mailing list, search dejanews for the
newsgroups bit.listserv.lawsch-l with subjects containing "RFD" or "CFV".

Bottom line- there are people who prefer Usenet, and there are people who
prefer mail. If you want maximum participation in your group, then offering
both is the way to go...

It will take another week or 2 before this happens to all of the news
machines (he has to finish testing and order more parts).
