This message is in the code and cannot be customized without recompiling
and re-linking everything. This may seem strange since, as far as 1.7f is
concerned, this feature is used only for subscribing to mailing lists.
However, it is intended to replace (or at least complement) the current
password scheme and will be used more extensively in future versions. The
code that sends the message cannot assume it is dealing with a SUBSCRIBE
command and thus does not use the usual "welcome message" or "mailform"
mechanisms. Changing that code via a local modification would affect the
text sent to all users, no matter the machine they are on, the list they
tried to subscribe to or, in future versions, the command they issued.
What would best serve your purposes, an optional user exit called from
this routine that would let you return the text of your choice based on
the sender's address, or a more typical mailform-based system on a list
basis?
