So have I and while I too have the "my confirm/ok' doesn't work" problems
I think the amount of bounced mail being reduced is great.

I've found that the problem is almost always with their mail/mailer in
that their site is not putting the *SAME* From: line in mail being 'sent'
as it does in mail being 'reply'd to.  So, when folks complain I send them
the following canned blurb and have found it works almost all the time.

Try this, I'm told this works almost all the time:
 
1) e-mail your 'sub' request to listserv
2) when you get the request to confirm:
   e-mail your 'ok' command to listserv
   *do not* use 'reply'
