Actually, in the process of getting the template for Ben to look at, I 
realized my mistake.  I didn't follow Ben's original instructions as 
carefully as I thought ... I created the template in the Mail & Static 
Templates location, and not in the Dynamic Templates location.  I just 
tried a single list entry in the template (this time, the template is in 
the proper location) and tested it.  It works!
