I would like to enlist the help of the listserv administrators on the network.
Subscribers to lists at AUVM and YORKVM1 (there may be other nodes) have been
receiving duplicate mail from some discussion lists. If the problem has not
yet been isolated I would like to coordinate our efforts in solving this. I
would suggest that we do the following:

  1. Discuss the problem (sites affected, etc.)
  2. Possible solutions that listserv administrators can take.
  3. Preventing this problem from occuring again
  4. Please, no flames or finger pointing. Let's get the problem solved

To start the discussion under item (1) a subscriber to SKEPTIC@YORKVM1 (the
subscriber domain is: ccvm.sunysb.edu) is receiving duplicates, one from
PUCC.PRINCETON.EDU and the other from VM.USC.EDU Not all subscribers receive
duplicates. And, the duplicate problem to this subscriber is intermittent.
Some subscribers in the UK are also receiving duplicates.

To determine if the problem was local I trapped outgoing mail distributions in
RSCS and MAILER reader and compared the distribution list with the subscriber
list. There was one entry for each subscriber.

To stem the flow of complaints I placed the larger active lists on hold.

My listserv counterparts at adjacent nodes are also experiencing this
problem. The gateway administrators are terribly busy. There has been no
reponse to mail addressed to the gatemasters.

Please, lets get to the bottom of this. What else could we do? Should we be
discussing this on another forum?
