Comments:
Passive probes is at least an option but I would have to agree that sending
a single probe for a use that is subscribed to multiple lists should be
something that Listserv is capable of doing, similar to Sub-Lists sending a
single message to users subscribed to multiple lists.

If you are interested in the convenience of your users, why not use passive
probes?  The users never see them!
