The PCBUILD list is academic only if you have a pretty practical EE dept.
But the purpose of the list (lowering the cost of PCs and enhancing their
capabilities) is full of relevance to most academic institutions.  So I
would call it an academic list, even tho the subject matter is fairly
practical and not too theoretical.
