There are hardly any circumstances where you should be
including a list of users with the PUT listname.
The proper technique (for what you are trying to accomplish)
is:
GET listname (HEAD
(wait for output)
(receive output to a file)
(update headers in file)
LSVPUT (or e-mail as approp) the headers back to LISTSERV
QUIET SET listname options FOR userid@node
where userid@node can be any valid wild-card notion or explicit.
