I'm sorry to report that John Voigt was laid off from Tulane yesterday.
They've been laying people off all year due to money problems caused by
a big drop in enrollment there. Unfortunately, John made a juicy target
since he was a senior staff member (why zap two people when you can zap
one and get the same financial effect... strange stuff).
Well, in any case, obviously this is going to cause alot of problems since John
managed so much stuff on the network. First of all, you can still reach him
via e-mail, but not at Tulane. Instead, write to [log in to unmask] You'll
notice that is his old ID -- just the node is different. Second, you should
direct all queries and problems about the network services at Tulane to
Tim Dees <SYSBWTD@TCSVM>. These services include their name server
(which provides secondary service to a number of places), LISTSERV and the
many lists hosted by it, MAILER, and NETSERV. John asks that his old ID
be dropped from all mailing lists and that other references to it (e.g.,
in peered lists) be dropped, or switched, as appropriate.
If you know of any appropriate job openings, you might drop John a line.
I'm sure he'd appreciate it.
Regards,
David Lippke
