Hello,
We used ListServ 16.0 HPO in Solaris.
There are some lists have the setting:
ACK=YES
Unfortunately, one of the lists was under attack. There were 5,000+ times since two days ago. The spammers used faked email, therefore bounced the acknowledge (confirmation) to the unknown victims.
===================================================================================
To cut down on spam, the ANTHRO-XXXXX list has been configured to request positive confirmation of messages posted to the ANTHRO-XXXXX-requestaddress. You must now confirm that the enclosed message did originate from you.
To do so, simply reply to the present message and type "OK" (without the
quotes) in the text of your message, or click on the link below. If this does
not work, or if the message did not originate from you, then contact the list
owner for assistance.
To APPROVE the message:
http://lists.sscnet.ucla.edu/cgi-bin/wa?OK=631FA8B4&L=ANTHRO-XXXXX
===================================================================================
That list has
Service= *.ucla.edu,ucla.edu
Send= Private
Usually 'ACK= YES' is a good way to make sure that sender really wanted to post, and owner has final decision of whether the post is approved or not. Those spams came from all over the world (i.e. we could not block it from gateway).
Does anyone have a solution to this kind of problem?
Thank in advanced.
Shinn
