Before we upgraded to Maestro, we used our Novell GroupWise Internet
Agent as a mail relay for Listserv. It held up against the volume of
mail sent through the lists. After we upgraded to Maestro, we used the
L-Soft LSMTP MTA and it also performs well.

If you use Sendmail on your Listserv host, make sure your firewall is
set to allow outbound mail from that host. Also, check the security for
your Sendmail MTA to prevent relay hijacking.

I am interested to know what is the usual method on other listserv
servers. Do you send the emails directly with sendmail or do you
forward
them to a mailserver? Of what do we have to take account when we send
the outgoing emails directly and which problems could there be?
