The advantage of a scheme that sends a "still trying" message after a
_small_ number of days (1) and _one_ "unable to deliver" message after
a longer period (7 days) is that is strikes a compromise between
list mail and personal mail requirements. A message of some sort
after 1 day _is_ useful to a list owner, since it can be used to delete
the person from the list as a sort of damage control (i.e., there will
only be 1 day's worth of bounces that will continue coming, rather than
7 days' or 30 days').
