You should  NEVER do a  'FOR userid SIGNOFF *  (NETWIDE' for more  than a
handful of users. Each request causes a one-liner to be forwarded to 260+
servers (via DISTRIBUTE),  and the processing overhead  can be tremendous
if you do  that for massive amounts  of userids (say, 1000  or more). For
large amounts  of users you  should build a  netwide DELETE job  with the
list of accounts to unsubscribe and  submit it to LISTSERV (wildcards are
now supported, which  may or may not  be useful to you).  Please refer to
the 1.6e release notes in the LSTSRV-M archives for guidelines on netwide
DELETE jobs.
