Can you send me the output of a 'gcc -v' command? If you have upgraded to
Solaris 8 and fail to rebuild/re-install gcc, Very Bad Things happen.
I'm not near a Solaris box, but on my Linux box, I get this:

[/usr/src/linux]2 gcc -v
Reading specs from /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i386-redhat-linux/2.96/specs
gcc version 2.96 20000731 (Red Hat Linux 7.0)

The 2.96 in the pathname is the GCC version. i386-redhat-linux is my
operating system version. I believe for Solaris 8, the field should
be 'sparc-2.8' or similar. If you have 2.7 or 2.6 or 2.5.1 in there,
I recommend you get a correct build of GCC, and then re-build Sendmail.
