I'm planning on migrating to 1.8e soon, and one of my list owners has
asked if sub-lists will behave the same as under 1.8d.

I poked around the L-Soft site and found the release notes for 1.8e
http://www.lsoft.com/manuals/1.8e/relnotes/v18e-mnt.html

But there was just one mention of sub-lists. I am assuming that
sublists will behave the same based on what I've found.

Incidentally, the list owner's problem is that binary attachments are
getting mangled when they are sent to a sublist. If the attachment is
sent directly to the list it is fine. Any thoughts on a solution to this?

Cheers
Sean
