1) Have the "postmaster" mail forwarded to another userid/address that's
listed as a Listserv maintainer.
1a) We've automated a lot of the add-a-list functionality using the web
form, so (for example) professors asking for class lists get done on the fly.
1b) Our documentation points other people at a "request a list" webpage,
which invokes a CGI that sends the request to one of us for verification/action.
End result is that I see perhaps 1 list request per year coming to the
address [log in to unmask] - the OTHER 3,000+ lists are all
directed to The Right Non-Postmaster Place.
2) Use mail software that makes it easier to reconfigure - I use 'exmh',
which lets me compose with different headers on a per-message basis. I'm
told that Eudora Pro has "roles" that support similar.
