I assume you mean the 'probe' header for a list?  Yes, that works quite
nicely.  However, note that if you are using Sendmail as your MTA, you
need to apply a patch to make probing work.  At one time, the patch was available
from ftp.lsoft.com but I don't see it there at the moment. It could just
be me being blind/uncaffienated thought. ;)

If somebody from LSoft can't fix you up with the right patch, let me know,
I have patches for Sendmail 8.9.3, 8.10.0, and 8.10.1 (I used to have an 8.8.8
patch, but am no longer supporting that, 8.9.3 is the minimum I consider
acceptable in today's Internet).
