You have the MX for 'datacom-equipment.com' pointing to some machine. We'll
call it foo.datacom-equipment.com. However, 'foo' has not been told to accept
mail for this address (and it won't, because foo.datacom-equipment.com and
datacom-equipment.com are 2 different hostnames. So it tries to find the
host that it thinks *should* be getting the mail - and discovers that the
MX is pointing at itself (meaning that the DNS thinks IT should be handling
the mail).
For Sendmail, the cure is to add 'datacom-equipment.com' to either the
Cw macro, or use a Fw file (default is /etc/mail/local-host-names in
Sendmail 8.11 and later).
If that doesn't help, and you're running Sendmail, let me know.
